Dog-bed labels often name a foam type as though that single phrase settles the buying decision. It does not. For a giant dog, the better question is how the complete bed behaves under sustained weight: whether it cushions pressure points, resists bottoming out, stays level as the dog changes position, and retains useful support over time.

Memory foam: comfort is not the same as support

The sculpted profile also means there is less material at the peaks than in a solid slab of the same maximum height. Under a heavy dog, those peaks may compress substantially. Shredded foam: adaptable but less uniform
